The trouble with being an educator and artist!

The trouble with being an educator and artist is that there are so many things in nature that grab my attention which can be incorporated into learning and development, such as the colours, the shapes and the contrasting textures. I find it a little like when we are with our dog walking through the woods - she can be happily meandering through the trees, but when you say "squirrel”, her eyes dart about looking inquisitively at everything around her. Nature is my squirrel. During a lovely woodland walk this morning, I just had to take these awesome photos capturing the light beautifully filtering through the leaves, decorating the ground below with ever-changing patterns. The photos I took help demonstrate contrast to children; the way the light reflects off the delicate leaves and how, in contrast, the tree trunks are so solid, strong and dark. And then, along the very next path, I might watch the light bouncing and sparkling off the leaves as they blew in the wind, dancing like playful fairies. Absolutely amazing. Nature is just so beautiful, and we can constantly harness it to assist in the journey of learning.
